Pneumococcal (pronounced as New-Mo-Co-Cal) disease is a severe bacterial infection caused by Streptococcus Pneumoniae, also called pneumococcus. It may cause pneumonia, meningitis or a blood stream infection (bacteremia). This disease mostly strike children under age 5 and can lead to some of the worst childhood diseases. Kids under 2 years old are most at risk. These bugs live in the mucous lining of the nose and in the back of the throat, and when plentiful enough can cause an infection in the respiratory tract, middle ear, or sinus cavities.
Pneumonia - inflammatory illness of the lung
Meningitis - inflammation of the protective membranes covering the brain and spinal cord. Potentially life threatening.
Bacteremia - blood infection with bacteria.
Pneumococcal bacteria are spread by close contact and through coughing and sneezing. Diseases such as meningitis and pneumonia can crop up within days of infection. Symptoms of pneumococcal pneumonia usually include fever and chills with shaking or trembling, as well as chest pain, coughing, shortness of breath, rapid breathing, rapid heart rate, fatigue, and weakness. Nausea, vomiting, and headaches are also associated with pneumococcal pneumonia, but are less common.Rotavirus are slightly the same. There are 2 types-Rotarix and Rotateq.
The routine schedule for pneumococcal conjugate vaccine is 4 doses, one dose at each of these ages:
2 months,4 months,6 months and 12-15 months(RM300 per jab-(Private Clinic)But ,Im not sure about Government.
Children who weren’t vaccinated at these ages can still get the vaccine. The number of doses needed depends on the child's age. And the Rotarix vaccine is RM180 per jab.

Happy 8months old,Ryan Raffael! My baby is growing so fast!!It seems like just yesterday I brought him home from the hospital all cuddled up in his receiving blanket. At the time he was perfectly content to stay snug and secure in mommy and daddy's arms.

This is his second time going to a cinema with us. The first was to watched Drag Me To Hell.Hehe. That time, he was barely 7months and he was either sleeping or nursing throughout the show.
But, now at 8 months old, he watches in excitement. He kicks his leg and waves his hands, coo-ing and gagging (baby language) throughout and sleeping.

Ryan is a extremely active baby and could never sit still. He would constantly be playing with other things except for his own toys or disturbing his friends around, poke their eyes, scratch their face, squeeze their nose and he likes to bite his friends too.He is always "up to something". He will not calm down to eat, bath, etc. He is always moving and squirming. It is like he wants to skip the infant stage and get up and run around the room. He hates to sit and would rather to climb and standing so that he can jump. Seriously he is constantly moving. He falls and his head bumped on the floor then stand up again and laugh.Should I be concerned???And when I changing his diaper,he will frantically twisting, roll over and turning while screaming at the top of his lungs, kicking and acting like a hungry little monkey(beating his own chest!)
I don't have much experience with babies, though I have been around a few of them, and I am a first time mom but omg, he wears both me and his daddy out daily. He's always crawling, everywhere doing more of crawl using both knees and hands, and never wanna sit quietly, but my God you'd be amazed at how fast that little thing can move like that so fast. I would watch my friends "good" babies around his age, and be in shock how they would lay still and be mellow or sit and play with their own toys quitely..
And of course he can't talk yet, but since he discovered that he can use his lungs and voice to scream, that's how he communicates all day long since he were 3months!! It's somewhat irritating for me, but of course we remember that he is only a baby and can't express himself any other way, but it seriously seems like he just likes the sound of his own voice. He blowing raspberries too!The thing is, the screaming scares me. If I stop him from doing that,he will throw his temper tantrums and he will make sure he will get what he wants!OWHHH NO please, dahla I ade OCD!(Obsessive Compulsive Disorder)

Bila fikir balik, perhaps he is started to developing sense of self?Say la If you had something in your hands that you were exploring and someone came up to you and took it away, wouldn't you be upset about it?Of course la kan?
He doesn't even give us a warning that he is upset. If I scold him (Amboi thingy..)at all he cries and screams louder. But then if I give him back what he wants (put him down,or get him standing on what he was trying to get up on) Then he smiles and laughs INSTANTLY. Isn't that (in his mind) winning when he gets what he wants?
Yeah,I thinks he is developing sense of self.I guess that, right now he is learning and experiencing everything he holds.I think I should start to train his sense of limits mildly. Seems like, everything in this world is his till he figures out concept of 'MINE/YOUR'and 'NO/YES',kot?

Ryan’s nearing his eighth month. He has been displaying shyness and reluctance to be carried by strangers or even relatives he’s not seen for sometime, including his Uncle Boss. What a switch from the once friendly baby who didn’t mind being squeezed, touched and kissed. And now,he has no qualms about expressing his displeasure.
This new thing can very well be separation anxiety, a perfectly normal development stage for babies I guess. Babies experience anxiety at the prospect of being separated from their parent. Susahla kalau macam ni kan..
Babies can show signs of separation anxiety easily as 7 or 8 months but experts say it intensifies between 12 and 18 months . Is it true? But my son 6 bulan dah ada feelings tu.. But still under control, not that bad as 7months.
There are times when Ryan tends to cry after I’ve put him to his playmat, his cot or our masterbed. Dia merengek sambil merangkak laju ke arah I and panjat kaki I.I pick him up and play with him for a short time and put him back down. Then barulah nampak mulut dia ngaga gelak :)
So mommies, how do you handle your baby’s separation anxiety?

Last Saturday my son went for casting!Ryan got hired by 7months.HeHe.His casting profiles done by Elite Model International Agency,Famous Artist Agency,Cheese Modeling Agency,Dutch Studio Eric's Agency and Purple Inc Modeling. Actually ada banyak contact modeling agency but, only few of them only hire babies/kids for their agency. Its ok,I pun dah 8 tahun terlibat dalam modeling. So why not, giliran my son pulak!Hehehe.Just a part time, yea Ryan?Even mommy busy on set with the camera, lights, action thingy and runway masa awal2 pregnancy. He totally loves the camera! The next casting scenes will be posted on 18th and 20th of June..Ill keep you updated.

Sometimes, we thought he said ‘mam mam’ (mama), and sometimes we thought he said ‘dada’(daddy). But I don’t think he really meant to say those, coz those were not repeated and he didn’t really spead to the persons.
But, last Monday, he has been saying ‘Dadida Dadi Dadida!’ repeatedly!Bunyi macam Daddy kan?Haha
Then yesterday, when I refused to pick him from his playmat, he calls ‘Dadida’ a few times’.
And when he said ‘Dadida’, he was looking at me.
I want to believe that his first word is ‘Daddy with DADIDA’. Kena buang 'DA' tu sayang...Hehehe
So sad la a bit,yet happy..coz if true la his first word is 'daddy...''then mommy leyh? Why mommy jadi kedua leyhh? Why panggil mommy with 'daddy' words leyh??Supposedly mommy yang first kan?urm...Nah,Ryan just babbling and trying to match the consonant sounds :)
Look at our 6months old baby

I wanna be mommy's clever good good boy...Dont wanna be a goodie goodie.
Ever since I start exploring the new world,
I wanna taste lots of yummy food,
to hear my first word
to guide me walking,
When I try to grab mommy's magazines n spoilt it,

Ryan is already 7months.He has been displaying shyness and reluctance to be carried by strangers or even relatives he’s not seen for sometime. What a switch from the once friendly happy baby who didn’t mind being squeezed, touched and kissed. These days he has no qualms about expressing his displeasure.Baru-baru ni,someone tegur dia dalam lif,dia takut dan nak menangis..Everywhere. Anywhere.
Lately, Ryan has turned to expressing his displeasure in a certain peculiar way. It’s rather strange but he tends to pull at his ear or hair when he’s getting sleepy and cranky or had enough to eat. It’s his last method of expression when others have gone unnoticed.Chaos jugakla.
At first, I was a little troubled. After researching this, I’ve come to understand that it’s perfectly normal for babies to do so. According to experts, the occasional hair pulling or stroking is another way that a baby or a young child releases tension. It’s a way in which baby tends to comfort himself during times of stress, especially when he’s overtired or cranky. This can linger into childhood without any ill effect. Baby pun boleh stress?Hurm..
Now that I’m aware of this, as soon as Ryan shows signs of getting sleepy during day time, I comfort him; I put him into his electrical cradle or simply give him something his little fingers can get busy with. Actually berguna jugak cradle ni..Tapi dia tak suka masuk cradle untuk tidur.Bila dia mengamuk, masukkan dalam cradle dalam half and hour then switch off..Then baru dia ceria balik.Hehe
